I am intrigued by the human figure. The face and its features are what I find most compelling about a person. I paint four by four foot large faces with an expressive style and emphasis on color. I apply irregular, sloppy paint thick or thinned down and drippy paint to create visual appeal. Some facial features are defined, while others are loosely represented. The eyes are the focal point and the most detailed portion of the portraits. I am interested in both representing the essence of a person through portraiture, but am also equally intrigued in investigating the physical nature of paint through stylistic exploration.
