Kathie Halfin was born in 1981 in Crimea. In age 16 she immigrated to Israel, where she studied art and design at Shenkar College. She grew up during the Soviet and Post Soviet Union periods of instability and total destruction of the system that deeply affected her life. Through her personal metaphors and recognizable cultural signifiers, she is interested to question oppressive and in the same time fragile mechanisms of the system. While dealing with her memories of past, she goes through a transformative process of revealing and sharing that reflected in her sculptures and installations.
