REQUIREMENTS:

 
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
 
  • All Graduate applicants to the Fall 2008 semester are required to complete the Online Application Form » and submit the nonrefundable $80 application fee. (Note: The online application is not officially submitted until valid credit card information has been supplied. Upon completion of this, an online confirmation is sent. We strongly recommend that applicants print this out and keep it with their records.)
  • Three letters of recommendation from instructors or practicing professionals. Letters should be written on school or company letterhead and returned to the applicant in a sealed envelope with the recommender's signature across the seal. (Note: SVA does not provide applicants with letter of recommendation forms.)
  • Statement of purpose (250-500 words) describing the applicant's reason for pursuing graduate study.
  • Resume
  • Personal interviews will not be scheduled.

 
All required application materials must be received "together in one package" by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Applicants who need confirmation of the receipt of materials should mail documents by a trackable means.

Please note that incomplete applications will not be reviewed. After February 1, 2009, all applications to the Fall 2009 semester will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis as space remains available in the program.
 
Applicants will receive an admissions decision in writing by April 1, 2009. The College does not disclose admissions decisions via phone, fax or e-mail.
 
Note: All application materials become the property of the School of Visual Arts and will not be returned.
 

 
MFA FINE ARTS TUITION AND EXPENSES:
 
The tuition fee for the academic year 2008-2009 for the Fine Arts program is $13,060 (per semester) .
